Sickle Cell Association

Our Mission

At the Sickle Cell Association HRVA, our mission is to serve and support the sickle cell community in the Hampton Roads Virginia region. Since our establishment on November 13, 1972, we have been dedicated to assisting individuals, particularly adults, with non-medical needs related to sickle cell disease.

Our Goals:

  1. Support Services: We provide a range of support services including support groups, transition assistance, and educational programs aimed at enhancing the quality of life for individuals living with sickle cell disease.
  2. Resource Sharing: We disseminate the latest research information and share resources to empower individuals and families affected by sickle cell disease.
  3. Collaboration: We actively seek partnerships with healthcare professionals, treatment centers, and organizations to enhance access to comprehensive care and support services for the sickle cell community.
  4. Advocacy: We advocate for the needs of individuals living with sickle cell disease, striving to raise awareness and promote understanding within the community.

Through our collaborative efforts and dedication, we aim to foster a supportive network that addresses the diverse needs of individuals living with sickle cell disease, ultimately enhancing their quality of life and well-being.
